About XEROS Dry Mouth Pump

History of the XEROS Dry Mouth Pump

The XEROS Dry Mouth Pump is developed by Al Toman with its electronics and mechanics engineered by John Miktuk. It arose purely out of a desparate need to address permanent chronic dry mouth.

I, Al Toman, battled cancer in 2007 resulting in permanent chronic dry mouth. I live it everyday. I know what chronic dry mouth is and how it effects my life. Consequently, the XEROS Dry Mouth Pump was born.

Theory Behind the XEROS Dry Mouth Pump

The mouth is wetted naturally when saliva is called. However, if there are no salivary glands, there is no saliva, then sipping small amounts of water is a good solution. This has to be done on regular intervals. One miss and the mouth glues shut! And that will occur because it is neither natural nor practical to sip from a bottle regularly. Therefore, we needed to come up with a solution that resolved both of these requirements

  • Deliver at regular intervals
  • Hands-free

Development of the XEROS Dry Mouth Pump

To keep costs down we wanted to use off-the-shelf technology. We selected a paristaltic pump, battery, bottle, tubing, mouth-piece, and carrying case the best met our needs at the best price possible.

The controller is the brains of the XEROS Dry Mouth Pump. It gives the user complete freedom and choice in how the XEROS Dry Mouth Pump is used. By this I mean

  • You select how much water you want delivered during each interval
  • You select how the length of time for each interval
  • You can program both a Day Mode and a Night Mode
    • The Day Mode is more aggressive depending on your activity
    • The Night Mode is more moderate set at a level that is comfortable for you
  • You can press the BOOST BUTTON anytime you need immediate relief

The user has additional freedoms including

  • Selection of fluids used
  • Selction of carrying case
    • We have a standard waist pack however we can pack your pump into whatever bag you choose. Contact us for details.
  • How to wear the tubing
  • Where to place the mouth piece
